The answer from ASUS support was: I just don’t understand that there are only so little options available in the drivers to tweak the atheros card. Atheros AR928X…No Wireless N?!?!?
I have another hp notebook with an external usb sweex wireless-N card and it connects with no problems at speeds over mbps. There is also no connection available on the wireless card. I didn’t have my camera available. The Taskbar should be clear atheos applications before proceeding. I forgot to tell I did try it the wireless way around and forced the router to N only, but then my card wouldn’t connect at all.

I forgot point 1. Enabling the wireless card allows systems to read chipset information and manufacturer name, as well as connect to a network without using an Ethernet cable. Can someone please help me? I know the N support is there on my router, because my other notebook connects perfectly with N speeds.

As for applying this release, ar928xx installation steps should not pose to much of a challenge since each producer intends to make the procedure as easy as possible: I finally send a support request to asus, but I doubt the answer that still has to come will be of any help.
