Wine Making

The vineyard produces exceptional quality fruit and is one of a small handful of Canberra vineyards to produce old vine shiraz. It has the enviable reputation of vines that are an old Penfold’s clone. The combination of age and clone make them unique within the region.

In the past, the vineyard has set record prices for fruit within the district. Most of the vineyard was under contract to Hardys until 2006, and past vintages of the chardonnay have gone into ‘The Eileen Hardy’ and the 2005 wine made with our shiraz fruit was judged off for the Jimmy Watson trophy.

The vineyard is located at Murrumbateman on a granite belt that runs on the eastern side of the Barton Highway. Only a small handful of vineyards within the region, sit on this type of granite profile.
